Mumbai
A Mumbai outing, to celebrate Shiny's birthday. We stayed at The Fatsmeagol Collective, one of the cutest airbnb places in the city. These four days turned out to be truly the trip to remember. There were times where the maximum city had us in breathtaking awe, the rains made it even more better. It was fun recounting stories from 2015 to Shiny, as I took her through familiar places.
Places Covered:
1. Gateway of India: Mandatory checkin.
2. Elephanta Caves: Took about five hours to complete this. The one hour ride in the sea was fantastic. You get to see the historical Bombay dock, as you ferry through the waters.
3. The Vagina Monologues at Canvas Laugh Club: We missed this when it happened in Bangalore, so had to make up for it in Mumbai. Shweta Das' act was a pure spectacle.
4. Haji Ali Dargah: Scenic, you have to walk through the sea on a narrow stretch of concrete. The waves would pounce on you from both the sides.
5. Juhu Beach: I have fond memories at this place eating kala khatta with friends, few years back. Did the same again, this time with Shiny.
6. Band Stand: Couples who date secretively choose corners to sit and smooch. The view of Worli Sea Link is great from here.
7. That's My Girl at the Royal Opera House: We did this only for the Opera House experience. But the show wasn't as great as The Vagina Monologues.
8. Essel World & Water Kingdom: Went here to sate Shiny's liking towards theme parks, ended up liking it myself, worth a visit. I personally enjoyed the Water Kingdom more than Essel World.
9. Global Vipassana Pagoda: Serene is the word.
10. Marine Drive: Mandatory checkin.
11. Taraporewala Aquarium: Not a great place. They charge you a thousand bucks for the dslr and five hundred bucks for the phone camera.
12. Prince of Wales Museum: The best thing in the whole trip. If you are a history lover, you are up for a great treat.
13. Fashion Street: Beats Bangalore's commercial street hands down.
14. Victoria Terminus: The most magical Gothic architecture in the city. We stood in front of the railway station for about one hour, just gazing.
Must-eat restaurants:
1. Delhi Darbar
2. Leopald Cafe
3. Persian Darbar
4. Mahesh Lunch Home
5. Sardar Pav Bhaji
