I, Isaac, Take Thee, Jasmine

'I, Isaac S Titus, take thee, Jasmine Jeyaraman to be my wedded wife, to have and to hold, from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, till death d us part, according to God's holy ordinance; and thereto I pledge thee my faith!' ,
were the words my brother spoke in Tamil, as I held the microphone close to him at the Holy Trinity Church, Mavadi.

To see your brother on the chariot, with an elephant and two band groups leading the way in procession through the roads of Mavadi was amazing. The day was completely packed with three functions - betrothal, wedding and reception, but we enjoyed every moment to its fullest. There were ADMK flags flying all over the place; two MLA's attended the wedding; every flex board had the images of the bride, the groom and late Jayalalitha. Although I personally do not like the ruling party and its legislators, I did not mind having them around because of the colour they added to the wedding and that I was not supposed to get into political banter of any kind.

We drove back to Tuticorin for the reception. The 10,000 wala cracker announced the arrival of the newly weds. The evening was well spent, exchanging smiles and greetings with friends and relatives who had come from everywhere. Appa and Amma were extremely joyful. After everyone left, we as a family sat together for a session of jokes, shared anecdotes and ended the day with laughter. Truly it was fulfilling to see happiness in the faces of my brother and his wife who is now part of the Isaac family.
