Coorg

Coorg was a beautiful experience. Like all family outings, the trip was filled with a lot of fun and laughter, and moments we would never forget. Truly, the most important thing in the world is family and love.

Places Covered:
1. Mandalpatti - You have to hire a jeep to travel 13 kms to reach the hilltop. They charge you Rs.1500, but the offroad experience and the views you get in Mandalpatti would make it worth the money. However, if you are good with bargaining, you can save a couple of hundreds.
2. Raja's Seat - Usually super crowded on weekends, but the downhill view from here is breathtaking.
3. Sri Nidhi Estate Stay - We highly recommend this place, you get the whole bungalow with the best of hospitality and access to the coffee estate. Rajesh was an amazing host. The two pet dogs at the estate will befriend you in less than five minutes.
4. Nisargadhamma - Not so exciting, you have to cross a suspension bridge to go to the park inside this river island.
5. Namdroling Monastery - You will see a lot of Buddhist monks here. April 29 happened to be the eve of Buddha Purnima, the place was colourfully decorated and every visitor was served tasty free food.
6. Dubare Elephant Camp - If you are an elephant lover, you simply cannot miss this place. There is no proper road, so you have to hire a jeep for Rs.300 to go to the forest area. There was very less water in the river, boat service to cross the river to go to the camp was also shut down. We had to cross over, climbing through the rocks.

Shiny's ancestral home is at Narippaiyur, a 64 km drive from Ramanathapuram. The place has its own charm, with boats float-parked near the shore, waters clean and very less people on the beach. Mama recounted stories from his past, of how he grew up there, of the trouble they had to go through whenever storms crossed the shore, and all of his swimming adventures. Grandparents, sweet as always, warmed us with hearty blessings.

Mysore with the newly-weds

Titus and Jasmine visited us in Bangalore, when mum was also here. So we planned for a Mysore Trip. Dad had to go to Tuticorin to take care of Charlie and Shiny had been advised not to travel, so they both couldn't make it to the trip. It would have been more fun had they joined. However we enjoyed the trip thoroughly. We covered Colonel Bailey's Dungeon, Tipu Sultan's Death Place and Summer Palace in Srirangapatna before we entered Mysore to see the most famous Wodaiyar Palace, Philomena Church, Sand Museum and Chamundi Hills. On our way back, we went for boating in Ranganthittu Bird Sanctuary.

The Handlebards: As You Like It

This is one of the the best theatre plays I have been to, of late. The all-female cast from the UK put out an astonishing performance, the fourth wall parts were intelligently done, the girls - all four of them - had a lot of energy and passion. The comedy that unveiled itself through the play was very natural, lively and appealing, they even indianised few lines that there was a joke on mysore-pak. Shiny and I liked the girl who played Phoebe's role; she was phenomenal talent and extremely funny. If Shakespeare were alive today, he would have definitley laughed his ass out and all the four girls would have won themselves a seat in his crew.
